I had thoughts about this, especially after the mothman festival so you can wait til tomorrow for that. And then the storm hit. My power went out. I wrote 3K in under 2 hours (so I can see what I'm capable of and what I USED to be capable of pre-social media) and then the power came back and I saw posts about two states trying to make it mandatory that all universities have a memorial to Charlie Kirk and my brain died of the stupid. (though I hope they do it and it fucking blows up in their faces) So instead have some links while my apartment cools back down (because omg why did it hit 89 again today)

Forgive me a few moments of astrology talk, but I promise it's leading somewhere.

Today was a partial solar eclipse (not visible in my part of the world, but holy cats, was it felt!) and the astro-weather has been, uh... well, it's been!  And when you're in these kinds of times where brains might be buzzing less with ideas and more with static, it's important to give yourself grace if you're not "as productive" as you want to be, however that looks to you.

So make sure you take time to rest!  If you've written anything at all today, congrats!  Celebrate it and take some time to decompress.  If writing hasn't happened at all today, that's fine!  Read over a piece of your writing you're proud of (whether finished or a WIP) and do something fun as a reward for being kind to yourself.

It's challenge time!

Comment with Just One Thing you've accomplished in the last 24 hours or so. It doesn't have to be a hard thing, or even a thing that you think is particularly awesome. Just a thing that you did.

Feel free to share more than one thing if you're feeling particularly accomplished!

Extra credit: find someone in the comments and give them props for what they achieved!

Nothing is too big, too small, too strange or too cryptic. And in case you'd rather do this in private, anonymous comments are screened. I will only unscreen if you ask me to.

Haven't done this one in a while. Following AO3, not the drabbles/ficlets only posted to DW. Also haven't written in a while, so most of these are a few years old.

Share the first and last lines of the last five stories you have posted to AO3.

The Fire and the Ember, Masters of the Air, Marge/Peggy

First: They didn't really need to climb in through Marge's bedroom window, it wasn't like her parents didn't know that Peggy was spending the weekend, but it was tradition at this point.

Last: She pressed her nose against the back of Marge's neck, and did just that.

A Fire in Arkansas, Band of Brothers, Johnny/Bull

First: Johnny figured that the old saw "smooth runs the water where the brook is deep" had been invented by someone who'd known Bull Randleman, but even he didn't expect what his corporal said as they sat in a meagre pool of shade half a mile out of Helena, Arkansas.

Last: He clapped Bull on the arm, Bull shoved him back, and they jogged forward towards the rising sun.

Natasha's Christmas Plans, Top Gun: Maverick, Natasha/Callie

First: "So here's the plan," Natasha said as she closed the hatch to the stateroom she shared with Callie.

Last: First chance she got, she was going to find some plastic mistletoe to tape to the bottom of her bunk, but for now they didn't need it.

Across the Waves, Across the Heather, Kidnapped! by RLS, Davie/Alan

First: Alan landed on the deck of the Covenant breathless and reeling, all those good men dead, and nearly himself as well.

Last: "Oh, I could kiss you!" Alan cried, and then did.

Every Time He Hears Their Voices (An End of the Affair Remix), Band of Brothers, Don/Skip/Alex

First: This is the moment Don has lived in since the tenth of January 1945: He's tucked back away from the line, catching a few minutes rest as he tries to choke down beans that half froze the instant Joe Domingo ladled them onto his plate.

Last: This is what does: all of the days after.

I had to stay up and work until 2am on Friday (aka Saturday morning) but I am finally fully caught up with work!!!

I'm still a little mushy-minded - just permanently lost 489 rosaries in Hollow Knight: Silksong fighting regular enemies 😅 - but my stress is completely gone 💗

Since my sister couldn't visit this weekend due to train issues, we and a few friends have been hanging out online this weekend. I also took the time to get my nominations in for [community profile] yuletide / [community profile] yuletide_admin, which you can see over on the Nomination Coordination Station.

I even managed to make promo posts for the fandoms I've nominated:
- BioShock Infinite
- Candela Obscura
- Killjoys (TV)
- Monstress (Comics)
- We Used to Live Here - Marcus Kliewer

Hope everyone's had a good weekend (or that the upcoming week will be better)! I'm still hard at work catching up with everyone here on DW, but I'm looking forward to reading everyone's posts 💖

I hit Price Chopper and the Bakery while I was downtown and got in a walk around the park.

I did two loads of laundry (washed, dried AND folded), hand-washed dishes, went on several walks with Pip and the dogs, cut up chicken for the dogs' meals, and changed kitty litter (and then almost immediately had to SCOOP the kitty litter because Midnight takes a fresh pan of kitty litter as an invitation).

I read some fanfic and started Key Lime Sky.

Temps started out at 39.2(F) and reached 70.0. That was much colder than I wanted it to be in the morning, but it got really nice out.

Hi there! How's the writing going? :3 Have you adopted any Lonely Prompts or found any you'd like to promote? If this is your first time at [community profile] comment_fic on a Sunday, you can either request previous prompts to be filled or share your recent fills for prompts. (Or do both, of course!) ✎

How to look for prompts:
We have plenty of prompts that might just nibble away at your brain today. You can browse through the comm's calendar archive (here on LJ or here on DW) for themed and Free For All posts, or perhaps check out Sunday posts for Lonely Prompt requests. (Or, you can be like me, and try to save interesting prompts as you see 'em... and then end up with multiple text doc files full of [themes + links + prompts] that you can easily look through and search for keywords.) Multiple fills for one prompt are welcome, by the way! Oh, and you are very likely to find some awesome fills to read as well, and wouldn't it be nice to leave a comment on those lovely little writing distractions? ~_^

Whichever you decide to do, prompt or fill (or both), please remember:
1. You can only request five prompts to be filled.
2. You can request no more than three prompts from a particular fandom.
3. You can, however, fill as many prompts in as many fandoms as you'd like!
4. In the subject line, be sure to say whether it is a request or a fill!
5. You must link back to wherever the prompt is in the community archive (whether filling or requesting), and, if you're filling the prompt, please post the fill as a reply to the original prompt.
6. If you are filling an "any/any" prompt, please let us know what fandom you've written it for (or if it's original!).
8. If there are possible triggers in your story, please warn for them in the subject line!
7. If you've filled any lonely prompts in the past week, this is the place to share them!
9. Finally, please remember to add your prompt fills to our AO3 collection: Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2025 collection. See further notes on this option here.

How to link:

We are on AO3! If you fill a prompt and post it to AO3, please add it to the Bite Sized Bits of Fic from 2025 collection.

If you are viewing this post on our Dreamwidth site: please know that fills posted here will not show up as comments on our LiveJournal site, but you are still more than welcome to participate. =)
If you have a Dreamwidth account and would feel more comfortable participating there, please feel free to do so… and spread the word! [community profile] comment_fic

A friendly reminder about our posting schedule: Themed posts for new prompts go up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Saturdays are a Free for All day for new prompts of any flavor. Sundays are for showing Lonely Prompts some love, whether by requesting for someone to adopt them or by sharing any fills that you've recently completed.

"Beatitudes for a Queerer Church" by Jay Hulme
Blessed are the outcasts;
the ostracized, the outsiders.

Blessed are the scared;
the scarred, the silent.

Blessed are the broken;
for they are not broken.

Blessed are the hated;
for they are not worthy of hate.

Blessed are those who try;
those who transform, who transition.

Blessed are the closeted;
God sees you shine anyway.

Blessed are the queers;
who love creation enough to live the truth of it,
despite a world that tells them they cannot.

And blessed are those
who believe themselves unworthy of blessing;
what inconceivable wonders you hold.

Hopes Dashed

So THIS house hit the market yesterday at 163K

It's gorgeous. It's everything I could want in a Victorian house. I was ready to call my bank to work up what I can afford. Then I calmed my ass down and looked it over. WHY so cheap? Yeah Wellston kinda sucks but it's not too bad. Sends to Dad. Why so cheap?

His response. Ghosts in that attic, demons in that basement (truth) buy it. We all were concerned that it looked like the basement wall is collapsing and if that's the case I can't afford to fix a foundation. [personal profile] evil_little_dog is already plotting how to redo the fence (so you can get to the garage) and putting in trees and apparently showing up with all her possessions, ha.

Today I go to Wellston and look. It's one block off the main drag. At the corner of the block is the abandoned (haunted!!) old Loy Hospital (jackasses busting out windows), some business I have no clue about and a non denomination (which I keep typing as demonation) church with a hand painted sign that says COMPELL CHRIST (like that's not ominous). On the other side of the block is a small business and the old school turned community center and Adena health clinic (is it a drug rehab place? I forgot to look. Good going Dana) Down the road is nothing but big houses like this one and St Peter and St Paul Catholic church and Grace Baptist.

I. Want. This. House. I don't wanna live in town. It's not the best area. I don't even care. I come home and find out why so cheap. It was a typo. It's 263K not 163. SIGH. Keeping my eye on it. If you knock off 30K I could probably still buy it but at that price I'm not sure I want that neighborhood. I'll end up with old hospital ghosts or something.

My stomach is no longer burning (huzzah) but I am still weak, exhausted and getting nauseated. Of course I suspected potential ulcers before this. I need to keep my eye on this. But I did get a letter (again! OMG why letters?) from Cabell Hospital about a telehealth appointment with the nurse prac. WHY? I haven't had the CT scan yet and I just saw the actual doc. Yet another call I need to make.

I did watch Glitch's Knights of Guinevere. It was....interesting. I'm not as jazzed as the rest of the internet who are acting like this is the second coming. That aside, I did really like it and am disappointed I'll be waiting months if not a year for more. It definitely comes out swinging (right at Disney). I do think I need a second watch, pausing to read all the worldbuilding posters etc in the background.

not really a spoiler but just in case )

It features a whopping 30 fics based on a wide range of media, with a great spread of categories and ratings. You can also find creators'

I'm still making my way through the collection, but everything I've read so far has been fantastic, and I'm compiling a list of new-to-me canons to check out. I definitely recommend manually browsing, if you're interested, since not all of the fandoms have been canonized as AO3 tags yet.

Needlepoint Update

As you may have seen, I started trying out needlepoint this year. The fruits of my first attempt, a bookmark, can be seen here. After that I completed two more bookmarks, which came out better, and I posted photos of those here.

I've now completed a couple of additional bookmarks, one which is for my sister because she asked for one after seeing photos of what I completed. :D

Now that I've kind of mastered the bookmark, I decided to try something harder and am currently working on a pillow, which is coming along.

Photos of the 2 additional completed bookmarks and the current status of the pillow are posted below the cut. :D
