This is my blanket statement. You are more than free (in fact, I'd be ecstatic) to make any transformative works based on anything I've created. Just do me a solid and let me know so I can squee on it (and you) and spread the word of your awesome across the land. ♥
2023 was the year of reconnecting with parts of myself that I've let slip away and also to discover and marvel at new things that make me...well me. And part of me wants to erase all that has gone before, another part wants to preserve that. Another part (that is more organized and not as lazy) wants to merge these two things. But, for now. I will start fresh... while also keeping all that came before it below, just in case you're curious (but mostly for me to remember who I was, who my friends were and where I came from).
So, me now. I'm a writer, a reader, a teacher, a hiker and nature lover.
I am left leaning to varying degrees, sometimes Jed Bartlet levels, and other times Karl Marx levels. I'm also queer as fuck. and this is sort of new to me--this coming to terms (and learning of said terms) that I'm still sort of shiny and shouty about it. Bear with. To that end; I guess a bit about my color of queer. I'm asexual and non-binary and other than that, I haven't got it quite sorted and even if I did, this really isn't the place for it, yeah? That's what the actual journal is for, yes?
And since I imagine that anyone who finds this will be here from either Snowflake Challenge or other geektastic and fandomlicious things, a bit about my current obsessions.
QUEER ROMANCE
That's it in a nutshell. Previous to 2023, I was in a bit of a reading slump. It started when I discovered fanfiction oddly enough. I consumed so much that it made real-in-the-world books dim and then fade out. Which was fine when I was reading fanfic. It was glorious. I read so many amazing things that I still go back and revisit from time to time, and still mourn what has been erased. But then even that wasn't enticing, and I don't know why. Maybe I stopped loving things enough to seek out new stories? Maybe I didn't follow enough writers of fanfic anymore and was too overwhelmed with the level of output? But, I still needed stories of that caliber. I needed stories that took me back to a place that has felt like home for so long. So, I put out a call and got SO MANY RECS! And I started with Red, White and Royal Blue ♥ and from there went on to Alexis Hall and N.R. Walker, and Adam Silvera, and Bill Konigsberg, and Alice Oseman. ♥
In 2024, I discovered T.J. Klune, Cat Sebastian and K.J. Charles and my life has been irrevocably altered for the better. ❤️❤️
I also fell in love with Ted Lasso, Heartstopper and Reservation Dogs, while deepening my love for Schitt's Creek, What We do In the Shadows and Our Flag Means Death.
I will remain always and forever a lover of The West Wing, Harry Potter (though, of course, fuck JKR) and White Collar. I will always be a Marvel girl, a Whovian--in varying degrees, and a Han Solo (and other SW fanchise) fangirl. ♥ ♥

Also, I think whatnot is a recognition of diversity of interest too, that there are many things that take time and attention and all of them need exploring and evaluating. Whatnot is a portmanteau of interest and passion in different areas, a way of saying that we dabble and play in lots of arena.

I mostly joined Live Journal to connect with Harry Potter fans around the world, because like them, I don't have enough real life people in my life who want to talk obsessively about a boy wizard becoming a man. Since then, I've sorta been exposed to this things called "fandom" and more importantly, this thing called "squee," I now use this journal to talk about what I'm loving at the time, which includes, but is not limited to: Harry Potter, Glee, Firefly, Sherlock Holmes, WHITE COLLAR OMG!!, Inkheart Series, House, Fringe I ♥ LIKE BURNING... oh and also family friends, music, books and writing in all forms.
In general, I'm a fangirl of good writing, whether novel, script, fanfic or music. I also love to tell stories, all sorts. I write fanfic and original short stories and novels.
