Because this doing it one at a time thing isn't working for me if I have any hope of catching up.

Day 6
In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts.
1) If anyone participating in the Snowflake Challenge reads this all these days past when it was assigned, if you could do me a solid and peruse late entries to this and other challenges by people--like me--who are struggling to keep up? It's hard to keep going when you feel as if you're talking to yourself a bit, ya know? Of course, if you're reading this, you're probably already doing that, so I thank you mightily. And if you're not doing it, me asking is sort of moot as you're not here anyway and I truly am talking to myself. LALALALA, what else is new. Just forget this Catch-22 of a wish, yeah?
2) X-FILES SHENANIGANS Specifically Season 1-3 things. I've FINALLY started watching X-Files and I'm sort of loving it a ridiculous amount. But, I am a slow watcher and also super thirsty for fic and stuff--but don't want to get spoiled (I know, I am a special sort of PITA) so if you know of any good fics that were written during the first three seasons I would love some links. Especially since that is what "new" thing I wanted to try for the next day's challenge. ;)
3) If you are a crafty type person, please consider signing up for our geeky craft exchange!! It will be AWESOME!
Day 7
Stretch yourself a little and try something new.
Waiting for X-Files recs for this one. Though, someone was nice enough to link me to this beautifulness that I will now be singing for all of eternity:
Day 8
In your own space, post self-recs for at least three fanworks that you created.
YAY, again with the killing two birds with one stone (that I mentioned in Day 2's challenge) as stories were revealed at
hoggywartyxmas and I can (proudly even) claim the angst-fest that was Seared with Scars (not to be confused with the story I wrote last year for the Criminal Mind's fandom with the same name--oops--I just really like the quote it comes from apparently.)
Anyway, this is Neville/Luna, Ghost!Remus with an appearance by Draco, Snape and Teddy
Summary: Luna and Neville are having a tough time moving on from what they went through in the War when they are visited by a ghost of their past.
Since most people commented on the fic that they had never read a Luna (or Neville) like this--bitter and a holding on to a grudge like WHOA, I thought I'd share a few other fics I've written that have made this Luna and Neville sort of my head canon.

Chapters: 2/2
Fandom: Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Luna Lovegood, Garrick Ollivander, Ron Weasley, Xenophilius Lovegood, Pandora Lovegood
Additional Tags: Tragedy, Minor Character Death, Action/Adventure, Friendship, Angst
Summary:
This was the first real story I ever wrote about Luna and it really set my head canon in stone. It was written over 10 years ago, so I'm terrified to re-read it, but I remember it being good? I remember it got a bit of love on the archive it was originally written for--now defunct. So, *shrug* I hope it stands up to the test of time. One note--when I wrote this, Luna's mom didn't have first name so I gave her one, apparently it was the wrong one. I'm not sure if I changed it when Pottermore (was it Pottermore that gave her a name? I can't remember) revealed her. I don't read (or care too much) about what Pottermore has to say.
The Room of Respite (Neville/Luna) takes place directly after Neville declares his love to Luna in the movie. ♥
And one more, this time Neville/Remus that takes a different look at Neville's issues with Snape. This was also from the
hoggywartyxmas fest a few years ago.

Day 9
Commit an Act of Kindness.
First a anecdote from a IRL Act of Kindness. I've always wanted to be one of those people who picks up the tab for my fellow coffee drinkers at my local Starbucks, but firstly, I never have that kind of money. But, more importantly, I was reading a thing about how that's really not the greatest sort of kindness--picking up the tab for someone who obviously has the money to drop on an expensive cup of coffee already. Not when you walk by the homeless person on the way in, and not when you commit this act with the help of a barista making minimum wage to these people who can afford these expensive coffees. And while I do have a few arguments with this--first, not everyone in that line are super wealthy--I for one use Starbucks as a reward not a habit--and two, baristas at Starbucks more than most food service jobs are actually treated really well (or they were when my sister worked there). But still...
So today, instead of walking by the homeless person and ordering coffees for all my fellow coffee drinkers, making my barista do all the work, I stopped and asked the homeless man if he'd like my free coffee, if not to drink, to use to keep his hands warm--he did. Then instead of buying coffee for the barista--like they need that--I asked her if she wanted my full punch card for the restaurant next door--she did.
And none of this is told to get any sort of kudos--it literally cost me nothing--but just ruminating on a lesson I learned.
Now for fandom kindness. On Day 5
hannah shared a link to
fandomtrumpshate which is a community like the Help Haiti and Help Japan ones of old and I was overjoyed that that was still a thing that fandom did (and turns out they've been doing it for 3 years now--oooops). So, I think I'm going to offer a few crafts. Wish me well!
Day 10
Create a fanwork.
I don't have anything to show for this now. I am working on my Chocolate Box and that in itself is sort of a big deal because I usually need more time to ruminate, but this time I have a plethora of ideas and at least two fandoms to consider so YAY! I'm starting now!
But, I also am toying with the idea of trying my hand at podficcing after seeing
analise010's Day 5 post where they link to a tutorial for want-to-be podficcers like me, I thought I'd finally give it a shot. Anyone have any stories they want podficced? They'd have to be short. Bonus points if they're a fic from any of the first three seasons of X-Files. ;)
AND HOLY SHIT--I AM CAUGHT UP!!for about an hour or two

To save them both from despair and misery, Luna Lovegood tells the story of how she meet and lost her best friend. Her only promise...It will have a happy ending.

Date: 2019-01-12 01:26 am (UTC)Also, I'm so glad you are doing Chocolate Box again! I know you had a negative experience last year in this fest and I'm glad that didn't discourage you from doing it again.

Date: 2019-01-12 03:06 am (UTC)And thank you! I'm just chalking last year's fiasco to lessons learned and moving on. I've loved Chocolate Box for a long time now and can't imagine letting it go.
