Week One: Random Fandom

I was going to go back and read all the yuletide fics from fandoms I love in all the years I've participated. Yeah... I only got through half of the first year. Oooops.

But I do have 3 very different stories to share with you from that small amount of fic I read. Basically, in my experience, yuletide (at least in the fandoms I enjoy) almost always puts out the very best fic. So, mostly I'd just like to recommend going to the list of fandoms and finding your faves.

I'll get you started:

The first one is from The Breakfast Club ♥ Through Yuletide, TBC has sort of become my jam. With this fic, I'm torn because I wish I would have read this before I ever wrote John Bender because it would have been my head canon so hard. But, I also am glad I hadn't because it would have been my head canon and then I wouldn't feel I could write for this fandom ever... So yeah.

And this last one is a great representation of the thing that yuletide does so very well, it takes just the weirdest things--Feminist Ryan Gosling, what--and makes these great stories that stick with you and get meta and make you think. This one takes the "Hey Girl" and just explores fan culture and the questions that we have to ask--especially for the people who write/follow RPF.

Plus it's epistolary. ♥
