In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Man, this is a sort of bad day for this. I'm having a pretty low-self esteem writing day. I don't even want to look at my stories. But I do want to remember the times when I wrote things for people and they were very happy to receive them and told me what it meant to them. So here, have some stories that someone at sometime liked rather a lot.

"Every Other Thursday" HP(Ron/Viktor) NC-17, 20k words.

Summary: It was supposed to be a game. Ron thought he knew the rules.

This was originally written back in 2008 for [livejournal.com profile] daddybear716 at the [livejournal.com profile] hp_rarities fest. It was the first gift fest I participated in and I think it might have spoiled me for what to expect. This story still gets surprise!comments that make me *sigh*. It's been forever since I've read it and I'm sure there are bits that might make me cringe and wish to do it all over, but I'm going to rec it as it stands. A timestamp if you will. ♥

If music be the food of love, play on HP (Orsino Thurston and Gideon Crumb--members of "The Weird Sisters") Hard R, 10.5k words.

Summary There are only two people that know what split up the band. As they prepare for their Memorial Reunion concert, the two remember. Bandom HP style! 'Cause even Wizards know how to ROCK!

This was originally written in 2009 for [profile] hp_yule_balls *sigh* remember HP Yuleballs? Such a fun fest. Anyway, this was written for my bestie, [personal profile] redsnake and when signing up for this fest, we might have skewed the sign ups so that there was no possible way that anyone but me would be able to write for her. She still didn't know what I was writing though. It was one of the funniest fest experiences I ever had. ♥ Plus, Red is fun to write for no matter what. Fun to work her delicious and varied kinks-- literary, theme and sexual ones--into a story. This time it was relationship angst, boys being awkward, first times, bandom and extreme!rarepairs. ♥

And finally, my last rec, which I just remembered breaks the theme of the recs, as the recip of this story actually never acknowledged it at all. But, it was well received by many people in circles of fandom I had never touched before (or since). So, that's something.

Severus Snape Sends His Regrets HP (Snape/Lily) NC-17, 7k words.

Summary: What do you give the happy couple who has everything? What if Harry wasn’t the only Potter who received a few of Snape’s choice memories?

This was written in 2008 for another defunct fest ([livejournal.com profile] less_for_you)for a tiny pairing that never really got bigger, though there was a moment there when it seemed it could.

Always. *sob*

Anyway, I really loved exploring the darker side of Snape, though I don't think he's as dark here as some did. We also get to see what Lily and Snape's teen years might have been. It's sort of still my head canon for them. ♥

And I was going to go on and whine about the state of affairs in comments and lament that kudos and "likes" aren't equivalent and are sort of worse than no comment at all on gift fics, but then I remembered that this is a public post, and I don't want to be that person. Though, I guess I am and now adding passive-aggressive to the list of asshole-moves I possess--sorry about that.

Anyway. Fun challenge! I hope to check out some new fics on other people's posts as well. w00t! New-To-Me-Fic! ♥♥

For what it's worth, I love everything you write, but especially the things you've written for me. ♥

I have to do mine for the day, and am having a pretty bad day of it too -- which is why my current LJ post is flocked, and doesn't include the Snowflake things. Because I too realized it had to be public, and there's a lot of airing of low self-esteem that shouldn't be aired to the general public.

*squishes you*

♥ I love writing for you. You are a proper recip. ♥

UGH. Why do we do this to ourselves? Why do we beat ourselves up with needing encouragement, acknowledgment and some sense of community? Why?

I hope you look past how things were or weren't received and find the fics you loved the most and share those. I'd love to read them (if I missed them the first time). ♥

I'm working on it now. It's hard! I'm actually trying to link something I wrote nearly 8 years ago with all the additional stuff related to it (because it was a fun challenge community at the time). ♥

Ah, Yule Balls. I got to participate in only one round, but I have a real soft spot for the fic I wrote for it and for the whole fest. It was my first round of HP holiday tests (2009, when everything was still new and shiny to me; I'd got into fandom too late in 2008 to participate in anything, even if I'd known what fests and exchanges were, which I didn't.)

Your recs look great, and I'm eager to try them.

Oh, and I'm that person in fandom, too -- as far as I'm concerned, kudos and "likes" don't come close to substituting for comments (and especially not for a gift fic -- wtf?) I just had someone at FFN who favorited me, favorited several stories, and added me to her "follow" list. . .yet didn't leave a single review. I guess she liked my stuff, which is good, but. . .yeah.

I loved Yule Balls! So many interesting characters and shenanigans were a go there. I don't mind single pairing fests, but I really enjoy participating in rare pairs and the like. So much to read and discover, and you are in a small community with like minded people who also give you and your weird pairings a chance. ♥

Kudos and likes aren't even close to the same, but I only get twitchy about them when dealing with a fest because you know that everyone reading is also a creator and KNOWS how much the comments mean to the writer. To leave nothing seems mean, to leave kudos only--when you know just the fewest "good job, you!" comment would be enough--seems lazy. And from a recip? I'd rather no acknowledgment at all to a kudo. Then I can hold on to the illusion that they died in a horrible accident and didn't get to read my story that they very much would have enjoyed because I wrote it for them specifically. But kudos? What does that say? *meh* pretty much. "Can't be bothered."

GRRR. Sorry. I have ~feelings~ about this apparently.
