Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day Nine

Day 9

In your own space, rec at least 3 fanworks you thought you wouldn't like (because they weren't your fandom or they pushed against your boundaries or you thought you just wouldn't be interested) but you ended up loving.


So many choices... I could whip out that watersports fic I read a few years ago that was oddly, pleasantly not horrible. OR that fisting thing...

But, I just realized my tags are horrible and I ran out of ways to find those stories that didn't require an awkward google search.

But, these are even better. These I loved so much that I remembered where I had placed them. :)

Two of them are old school Harry Potter in pairings I so don't ship.

Soul Searching by Quillision
Summary: Molly Weasley is ill, and her son Ron has found a way to help her. But he needs Hermione Granger's help, because it involves a potion he doesn't know how to make. The main ingredient in the potion- part of a human soul- is hard to come by, and when she sets out to steal it from Professor Snape's storeroom, Hermione sets in motion a chain of events that will take her from the dungeons to the Burrow and beyond, to Stonehenge and to the very stronghold of Voldemort himself, to learn about the strength that wells from the bones of the earth- and from the heart of a man who believes he has little left to give.

I think this is like the quintessential Snape/Hermione story? I don't really follow the ship or the WiKtT of which this is included. But when I first joined fandom, I had one friend. Only one. And she was a major Snape/Hermione girl. I was--and still am--a major Ron!fangirl. I would only read stories that she had read and could guarantee Ron wasn't treated horribly in. So, this fic. Not only do I remember it being just a great story but I also think it totally turned me around on that whole Snape with a woman thing... And it's is BEAUTIFULLY written. Seriously.

Summary: Harry's either drunk and horny or drunk and cuddly, depending on your point of view. Ron's straight but no one holds it against him. Draco could hand out detentions, but he has a better idea.

Like Snape/Hermione, I also need someone to rec and guarantee Harry/Draco for the same reason... I'm very particular about how Ron is treated and my first ship was Harry/Ron... This one I took a risk on because one of my favorite things is drunk!Harry. Like a ridiculous amount of love for that little knucklehead getting wasted. Ron joining him? Perfection. Them getting caught from Prefect Draco? Way better than I could have ever imagined.

I love this fic a crazy amount and have already recced it once in great detail but I'll tell you why it's here. Because it's 79k words about a character that I had given little thought to before this fic. Kate Moreau. But it is glorious.

I love these recs. I'm usually not into threesomes, but that fic Harry/Draco/Ron is wonderful. And the author did a great job taking care of Ron. I'm with you, even as a H/D that I am now (omg!!! lol) my favourite fics are forever those that treat Ron with respect. I even send the occasional link to shoc. :D

I love threesomes. It's the Draco that I'm often iffy on in fics. (Don't hate me!) I just like him a certain way and there are a lot of people who write him very differently. But, I really should give more fics a chance.
