Yuletide and Madness Recs:


6 fics under 2,600 words and 2 hundred word drabbles.

I start by filtering on Word Count both in Yuletide and Madness before I go for specific fandoms. With fics of few words, I take risks on fandoms and characters I'm not as devoted to as others. I am often pleasantly surprised.

This was the perfect combination of humor and angst that you would expect from a story that takes place in the 4077th. And like the characters it portrays--specifically Hawkeye♥ and Houlihan, it is the perfect combination of antagonism and begrudging devotion... that thing they have where the can see right through each other and revel things about the other that even they hadn't realized. ♥♥

This author SO nailed the voice of the book with both the interviewer and the interviewee I could swear I was reading another chapter of the book. If you loved the book, but thought it was missing one chapter, one strong woman (and surfing) then this is the story for you! ♥

And if you know me and what I like, then you would totally be able to tell it was tailored made for my likes... and what I like is experimental storytelling--in this fic it's the shifting of POV style and intimacy levels. And also it touches on one of my very favorite things in all of Sherlock Holmes fics... drug relapse and the effects of that on people close to him... and who is closer than his Watson? ♥♥ This Joan is stunningly hurt and also stunningly in control and I love her!!

More Joan! More World War Z! These two things could be enough to intrigue you! This takes the idea of Watson as a chronicler and puts her in the world of WWZ and it's marvelous. The bits of her relationship with Sherlock that are explored are, of course, my favorite parts. ♥♥
