JFC I fail at life sometimes. I will be back soon (knocks wood) for Pride things, and life things, and whatnot. But until then:  here have some graphics with vague ratings of the books I've read so far this year. Read any of these? Let's talk!  Want recs? Let's talk! Have recs? LET'S TALK!

The Long Game/Role Model: I sort of see them as one book, and love both. I do think Harris is almost too perfect, but I also think that's kind of the point. Anyway, the story is more about Troy's personal journey than Harris's, so it makes sense that Harris is almost too perfect. He needs someone who believes in him, even when he doesn't believe in himself. (brb going to cry now.)

Also, I don't think I've had a cake pop in my life, and I really want to try one now.

The Long Game is a great exploration of Ilya. I don't hate Shane in it, unlike many others - I think Shane's neurodivergence plays a role, but either way, he doesn't always get what Ilya needs (and to be fair, Ilya isn't always very open about it). It's frustrating, but he comes through. I love that when it counts the most, he's willing to choose Ilya over hockey if it comes to that.

Tough Guy: I haven't re-read this one, so I don't have quite as much to say, but I liked it. I didn't know if I would because I'd heard mixed things about it, but I liked Ryan and Fabian (as someone with anxiety, I appreciated the representation).

Also, I liked the found family Fabian has (which Ryan will undoubtedly become part of). I liked that in The Long Game, too, with the Ottawa team. Can't wait to see what happens once Shane joins.

Re: your TBR list - I have read My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry and Britt Marie Was Here, the latter of which is a sequel. They're both good, though I liked the former better than the latter. Just as a heads up though, the first mentions Harry Potter a LOT, being written long before we knew the author was a terrible person. This includes a major plot development towards the end.

I read a different book by Fredrik Backman just the other day. He's a new-to-me author.

Yay I'm glad you read more of the Cat Sebastians. I think the The Lawrence Browne Affair was my favorite of that bunch, I should reread it at some point...

I'm sure they're all on your list but I really enjoyed Charles's latest release (How to Fake It in Society), and All of Us Murderers and The Duke at Hazard were very good too if you haven't read them yet.
