Challenge #3

In your own space, put some favorite characters into an AU, fuse some favorite canons together, talk about your favorite AU/fusion tropes, or tell us why AU/fusions aren’t your cup of tea. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

What I love about fusions and crossovers is how ridiculous they usually are (at least when I’m thinking of them in my head, even though I’ve written less than cracky ones a few times), at least the idea of them. And usually, when I know that I’ve fallen for a new fandom is when I start crossing it with an old one (usually Harry Potter--seriously, I’ve written more than a few).

I was going through some old files and found a story I had started (like only two paragraphs started) at a FirewhiskeyFic night (oh yeah, remind me to tell you all about FirewhiskeyFic it is LEGIT the best and they’re doing another one soon) And not only do I not remember writing it, but it took me a minute (actually it was the summary that clued me in) to what exactly fandoms I was working with and now I want to write read this story STAT.

I’m sharing it because it’s ridiculous and who doesn’t love ridiculous and also because, while I have no idea how to execute the story (sober at least) I feel like it’s too good idea that SOMEONE out there hasn’t already wrote it and if so, maybe you know who. ;)

Summary: Are you forking shirting me?!

Snippet:
Pansy Parkinson opened her eyes. She was sitting in some sort of waiting room. She had no memory of how she'd gotten there or even where “there" was. Before she had time to worry about it, or wonder why she wasn't worried about it, a door opened and an old man in a long purple robe and a ridiculously long beard came out, smiling with a twinkle in his blue eyes.
“Hello, Pansy. Come on in.”
And that’s all I wrote (JFC, I’ve got to learn to pace myself with the cocktails!) But I do have a cast of characters.
Pansy as Elinor
Neville as Chidi
Dumbledore as Michael
McGonagall as Janet
Pavarti as Tahani
Seamus as Jason
HAHA, tell me that isn’t the most ridiculous idea you’ve ever read. :D :D :D

Ah, I'm so glad to see your post (when I'm afraid this challenge will be even harder for a me to help modding because I write only in one fandom)! This is fitting: You had no memory of a fic in which your character had no memory and she had no time to worry why she wasn't worried! I love Firewhiskey! I mean the fest! :) It has made me, too, enjoy writing ridiculous things.

Yes, one fandom does make this challenge harder, but at least HP is malleable. I've put Remus is so many ridiculous places while drunk. The best was the Trolley of Make Believe. 😍😍😍

That is a hilarious fusion idea! Dumbledore as Michael is so intriguing, and Neville as Chidi also sounds very promising! :D

I think Michael and Dumbledore would get on smashingly. And Neville being Pansy's conscious just makes me smile. 😍😍

I know nothing about this fusion but I can confirm that Firewhiskeyfic definitely, uh, inspires creativity! :D I also very much relate to having ideas that someone other than me should write. LOL

I love crossovers as well although I tend to prefer them 'logical' rather than cracky.

Yes, me too really. Like the idea comes to me all full of crack or HOW COULD I POSSIBLY?!?! But, once I sit down and really think of them, the ones that get written are less cracky and more logical and almost always make some sort of sense.

OMG HP/THE GOOD PLACE FUSION SJFKLJFJFKDSLJF YES PLEASE. I AM HERE FOR IT!!!

I am the same as you as I'm constantly wanting to shove HP characters into other fandoms I love (though I've never actually succeeded in creating/finishing any of these ideas). There's something specifically about HP that makes the characters so malleable to different fandoms for me? But I couldn't tell you what that is!

I hope you'll be able to join us for FWF, btw!! So excited to do it again!

Right? I love fusions so MUCH! And yes! HP is so easy to bend to your will in other worlds. Besides what I've written for Firewhiskey--where all my fusions seem to come out ;) I've written HP in the world of House M.D. and White Collar and it was ridiculously easy to do.

X-Files is another thing that is easy to crossover, and the day I figure out how to bring HP into that, I will ascend this mortal coil and become a GOD! HAHA.

SO EXCITED FOR FWF! I have GOT to figure out a way to write in that 5 minute sweet spot of tipsy before pass-out-y. ;)

DO IT! They usually do a few of them throughout the year. It's always great fun because we all talk to each other in the comments as we get drunker and drunker and then the fic ridiculousness is just gravy!
