Hello!
I'm so glad we have at least one tiny fandom in common, that means I already love you and think you have impeccable taste!
So, I guess I bit about my likes/dislikes in general and then I'll wax poetic about my fandom loves and give you some ideas and whatnot, yes? Okay, let's begin:
Things I'm a fan of:
Gen:
Character studies
Characters dealing with their shit
Relationships that just barely work, or shouldn't but somehow do.
Found families/chosen families
Journeys (both the physical of travel and also spiritual/mental)
A/Us (both canon divergent, what-ifs and completely taking the characters--though retaining what makes them them obvs--out of the canon and dumping them anywhere else.)
Fusions/crossovers
angst
hurt/comfort
hi-jinks and shenanigans
witty dialogue
epistolary stories or elements
geography or location so rich and real it's another character
Relationships:
Everything on the gen list still applies, but also:
Pining
feeeeeeelings
coming out
dealing with new feelings
mixed signals
awkwardness
sexual exploration
Things I'm less a fan of:
PWP-- I don't mind sex, or kinks, but I'd also really like some substance and reasoning coming into play. But if you're here for treats, ALL THE PORNZ!!
Incest/chan/rape fantasy
Extreme kinks-- sexual exploration is one thing, watersports/pony play is quite another. Worried you might cross the line, contact redsnake05 she knows where my line is.
Sappy, happy, overly fluffy-- unless you're here for treats, then tell me a cute little happy story about bunnies, kittens and rainbows if that's your thing. :)
Character bashing
cruelty/abuse/torture
And I think that's about it. Now, on to the fandoms!
The Best Bad Things: I just discovered this book over the summer on a whim of trying new-to-me authors and genres and fell so hard for the characters and was so jazzed to see that someone had nommed it thinking I’d been the only one who’d ever read it. So, while the book was so good and so captivating, what I loved were the pockets of information we were given very little detail to, the Pinkerton era, the time before with Alma and Delphine. I would love some of their shenanigans, either them, or Alma and her Pinkerton cohorts. Or, after the book ends, some poly dynamics with them and Wheeler in the future?
Philadelphia Story *sigh* This is my favorite Hepburn/Grant movie (Holiday is my second favorite btw ;) ) and I love everything about it and all the characters and would love anything more of any of the relationships before, during or after the movie. I’ve gotten a lovely poly story with Dexter, Tracey and Malcauley in the past and would love to see that dynamic explored more if that’s your jam. I also am curious to how the relationship with Dexter and Tracey worked (and didn’t) in the past. They give you so many hints and I’d love to see some of those fleshed out. Or just a character study of Tracey. ♥
Mary Poppins (Movies) So, in Mary Poppins Returns, we meet Jack who knows Mary because he was Bert's apprentice(?) when he was young. I took this to mean that Mary had more shenanigans in London with Bert (and Jack) than we'd witnessed. I'd love to see any of that.
In the past I’ve also suggested some fun crossover/fusion type shenanigans with Mary and Bert (before Jack was a thing, but if you go this route, feel free to include him).
The Mary was Bert's Nanny Theory ♥ I just love the idea of this so much!
Mary is a Time Lord and Bert was her Companion ♥ For this prompt I guess I should warn you that I'm only familiar with New Who, but I have enough of a grasp that if you want to take it to Classic territory, I'll be able to follow along.
Mary Poppins got expelled from Hogwarts ♥ I like the idea, that like Hagrid, Dumbledore (or whoever was Head Master then) let her keep her wand (in her umbrella of course) and Dumbledore used her from time to time to help nanny magical orphan children…
And while I don’t ship any of them myself, I have no problem if you want to sell me on it. ;)
The Sparrow Series: (I’m so glad this was nommed as “series” this year. Genius! And I know I only put Emilio, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want any of those other people, it just means that I would prefer Emilio to be the main character in the story. ♥Emilio♥ I love this book and this man so very much! I want to read more about him, about his friends, about his shipmates...missing scene, pre-canon, post, hallucination, AU, anything really... And while you can absolutely keep Emilio as broken as he was in the book, I'd take it as a kindness if you didn't break him anymore... or if you do, please, please fix him. And, I guess this is where I need to have a caveat for the DNW about cruelty/abuse/torture as obviously, those are all subjects that might come up with this canon, but maybe not focus too closely on it? Like, I don't need to be in the room when it happens, yeah?
1940s American Actor RPF This was my nom and basically I just need more Katharine Hepburn in my life, like ALL the Katharine Hepburn! And while those four are the only ones I could nom, feel free to invite others to the party, or bring them out of the 40s-50s and into any other period, any other story/book/movie/theater/song… And of course you don’t have to use all of these characters or ship them, or you can ship them. Do what you want, basically. I really, really, like the idea of Katharine and Lauren Bacall being friends (or more if you want them to be) since reading Hepburn’s memoir of her time making The African Queen. ♥ ♥
So, those are just a few ideas and suggestions, take what works, dismiss all that doesn't... or all of it really. I trust you. I trust your judgement, I mean, you love what I love, you have to be awesome. *nods*
