Day 15
Talk about why you participated in Snowflake &/or what you got out of it.
This year as a mod was INSANE, but it could have been SO MUCH WORSE. When we sat down to start planning the event, there were only like 4 of us? Maybe 6?
Not nearly enough, not even for a normal year. This was not a normal year. Thank God and all that is good in the world that more volunteers stepped in, because seriously? You guys were AWESOME! There were so many people participating, some of you for the first time. You were talking to each other, reading each others posts and becoming friends and I LOVED it!
But for me personally... I always felt like I was barely keeping up. There were so many conversations I saw, but didn't have time to join, so many friendships starting that filled me with joy as I hovered briefly on the periphery.
Then, a couple days ago on Twitter, someone said something like, "Hurry, you only have 15 days to do the Challenge" and I responded that the Challenge went on indefinitely, we just stop telling you what to do after the 15th day. ;) I needed that reminder too. It doesn't matter if I didn't get to DO ALL THE THINGS in this 15 days. Those Happy Places and fic/community recs are still going to be there tomorrow and the next day, those thinky fandom thoughts and challenges are still going to be there... and so am I.
I'm bringing you all with me into 2019!

And yes, the beauty of the FSC is that you can always do it. It doesn't end because the calendar says it's January 16 (and I loved the friending meme, will go back and keep checking it through the day).
I wish I could volunteer as a mod, but I don't have the bandwidth in RL to be effective or stick to the commitment, but I love participating. For the first time in a very long time, I did all of the challenges on the days they were issued (except for one, #5). I really enjoyed thinking about fandom and what it means to me, how it can move forward in challenging times, and what I can do to help respark the fire back here on DW (I have so many plans).
All my love to you and my gratitude too, to all the mods who worked so hard to make this happen and run it without drama or incident. It really has done what it needed to do for me - reignite my love for this platform and adult blogging.
