Yuletide Letter

I hope you are excited about this fest and all the magic it brings as I am. ♥ I love everything about Yuletide, the faith, hope and devotion we bring to id. Faith in each other, first to articulate just what it is we love about this shared fandom, and then in others to create such gifts for us. Hope that we'll get from it all that we ourselves put into it and our own creations will be just what was most wanted from our recips. Then the devotion of the actual creation, again both in the giving and receiving. Ahhhh, is there anything better?
I'm going to start with my DNWs because if perhaps you're here for treating, if I turn you off with those, I won't also waste your time, yes? I used to be super "Anything Goes" with my likes and dislikes, but last year (after over a decade of being pleasantly surprised) I was scarred, so I want to make sure that doesn't happen again (for both our sake's). And I know that most of this list only applies to sexy time stories and scenarios that don't really apply to the fandoms I've listed, but again *traumatized* and better safe than sorry and all that.

Extreme kink (I know this is a blanket statement, and My Kink is Not Your Kink and That's Okay and all, but there are just too many things that exist in the world and few people who really use Yuletide for that--especially in these fandoms--that I don't want to get ridiculous with the specifics). And, I think that's about it. Other then those, GO CRAZY! Here are some general "prompts" or elements I love that I would love to read. I will give fandom specific ones below.

A/Us (both canon divergent, what-ifs and completely taking the characters--though retaining what makes them them obvs--out of the canon and dumping them anywhere else.)

hi-jinks and shenanigans
witty dialogue
epistolary stories or elements
geography or location so rich and real it's another character
The West Wing Weekly Podcast (Josh, Hrishi and Bradley): I've been pretty much mainlining The West Wing since the last election :( and living in the bubble of it to keep myself sane, so the podcast has really came along at the exact right time! I've loved Josh as a person almost as long as I've loved his characters, I love him on Twitter, I loved his (and Michael Ian Black's Sad, Sad Conversations. I loved all the rumors about the shenanigans that went on on the set of TWW, and really love hearing them be confirmed by Josh and the guests they have. I especially love the love/hate relationship he has with Bradley Whitford. ♥ There has to be a lot of love and respect for two people to be able to talk to each other the way they do and I'd love to see some of that. I'd really love to see them try some prank on Hrishi and it going HORRIBLY wrong because Hrishi is just so precious and earnest and all things pure. ♥

The Time that Josh got a restaurant full of strangers and fellow campaign volunteers to sing Happy 60th Birthday to Bradley in an Applebees when it A) Wasn't his birthday and B) he was only 57
Another prompt? Maybe Hrishi has a fever dream where the actors are actually working at the West Wing, or are in an alternate timeline and are fighting the current administration in some way (I love how political the entire cast still are). ♥
And, while I don't really ship any of them, per se, I wouldn't be adverse to being persuaded if you do and want to sell it to me. ;)
The Sparrow: ♥Emilio♥ I love this book and this man so very much! I want to read more about him, about his friends, about his shipmates...missing scene, pre-canon, post (with or without referencing the sequel) hallucination, AU, anything really... And while you can absolutely keep Emilio as broken as he was in the book, I'd take it as a kindness if you didn't brake him anymore... or if you do, please, please fix him. And, I guess this is where I need to have a caveat for the DNW about cruelty/abuse/torture as obviously, those are all subjects that might come up with this canon, but maybe not focus too closely on it? Like, I don't need to be the room when it happens, yeah? I almost left Supaari VaGayjur off the list because I'm leery of a story that focuses on his relationship with Emilio in The Sparrow, but I do love his interactions with Anne and D.W. in the book and Sofia in the sequel (Oh god, tell me you've read the sequel! *meep*).
Of course, you're free to focus on the other characters, I love them all or I wouldn't have included them. I really love everyone. Well except Voelker. Fuck that guy. ;)
Mary Poppins I can't remember I time where I didn't love this movie. It has been in my soul for pretty much my whole life and still dominates my thoughts and feelings. Basically, I still want to be Mary Poppins when I grow up.
A few ideas for you:
The Mary was Bert's Nanny Theory ♥ I just love the idea of this so much!
Mary is a Time Lord and Bert was her Companion For this prompt I guess I should warn you that I'm only familiar with New Who, but I have enough of a grasp that if you want to take it to Classic territory, I'll be able to follow along.
Mary Poppins got expelled from Hogwarts ♥ I like the idea, that like Hagrid, Dumbledore (or whoever was Head Master then) let her keep her wand (in her umbrella of course) and Dumbledore used her from time to time to help nanny magical orphan children...
Basically, I am giving you permission to get freaky with this one. ;)
Northern Exposure (Joel and Marilyn)
Okay, I know I'm really limiting myself by only signing up with these two characters, so truly, write whatever inspires you in this fandom and I will love it. A few years ago, I got this piece of amazing NE/WTNV fusion that not in a million years would I have been creative enough to actually request. So, part of me wants to just leave you a blank slate.
But... I guess I should clarify a bit why I asked for Marilyn and Joel specifically. I just love their relationship soooo much. How puzzled and frazzled she made him, how they cared about each other in a very bizarre and endearing way. Remember that time that Marilyn went to Seattle and Joel was so worried he followed her there? How adorable and unnecessary that was? God I loved that episode.. them just walking down the street doing exactly what she wants to do. ♥ ♥ So, anything that explores that relationship would be amazing.
So, those are just a few ideas and suggestions, take what works, dismiss all that doesn't... or all of it really. I trust you. I trust your judgement, I mean, you love what I love, you have to be awesome. *nods*
