And the echo chamber that is MSNBC ♥ MADDOW ♥
I couldn't watch the SOTU. I just couldn't. I don't even handle the clips of his bits and pieces on the news during dinner, I knew I'd be punching something--many things.
But, I did catch this and all was well...
♥♥
And I don't know if it's just been a VERY long time since I've heard a politician talk like this, or if it really was that great of a speech, but JFC, I've listened to it many times already. You know how many times he used the word "I" in that speech? ZERO TIMES. *sigh* And just like that, *pouf* faith restored.
Well, that and last night I watched David Letterman's new Netflix show where he chatted up with Obama and it was... just...
I forgot how much I loved him. Not Obama, I've basically been sustaining myself on the residuals of my love for Obama, no, Letterman. I was actually pretty obsessed for a huge chunk of my life. Like embarrassingly so... even in rabid fangirl norms.
But, enough of that. Here's something funny and not about politics at all. Last night I had a dream that I worked for Tom Hiddleston and Matt Smith. 0.o
I was in charge of their social media--which is funny as they have like zero of any of that--and was responsible for dealing with their fans. Mostly though, I spent the whole of the dream constantly searching for Matt's car keys... which I was told was my job because he was convinced that his fans had some how taken them, even though I always found them in places like in his couch cushions or in a kitchen drawer.
My mind, ya'll. So weird.

Date: 2018-02-01 06:40 am (UTC)I sort of spent a ridiculous time watching them be ridiculous. It must have sunk deep in my subconscious. ♥

Date: 2018-01-31 07:38 pm (UTC)I didn't watch the SotU either; couldn't take it. But thanks for this! My faith isn't restored, but this was helpful.
Also, JFC he looks so much like John F and Robert Kennedy. It's eerie.

Date: 2018-01-31 09:20 pm (UTC)And your dream totally sounds like something my brain could have come up with. I have the weirdest dreams sooo often; my daughter thinks my brain's nuts when I'm asleep! LOL!!

Date: 2018-02-02 10:55 pm (UTC)But yes, I'd cherish those dreams, too. Or ones with Matt Bomer (sometimes he's Neal, sometimes he's Matt! LOL!), or Harry Potter, or... yeah. Apparently, my brain likes to fandom when I'm asleep!

Date: 2018-02-02 02:34 am (UTC)Ditto. I get triggered just by seeing photos of the Cheesy One and his GOP clown posse.
Since the speech, I've been reading a lot of suggestions about "Kennedy 2020." Not sure if this would be a good idea. I think the country is too wary of past elite family dynasties. I'm not seeing a clear front runner, though, and it's not too early to start planning. Problem is, I don't really know a lot about anyone who is being touted as a possible contender: Kamala Harris, Cory Booker, Kirsten Gillebrand. . .guess I need to start educating myself.
I think if they went with Bernie and gave him a younger firebrand running mate -- Warren, say, or Booker -- then Bernie's age wouldn't necessarily handicap him. He'd have a good chance.
My partner's mom worked for Letterman for years.

Date: 2018-02-11 05:08 am (UTC)OH man, I am sooooo jealous of your partner's mom. My dream throughout my teens/college was somehow working for him. Doing what, I didn't know, but just something.
