Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 2

Day 2

In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone.

You know what's weird? We've all admitted that 2017 was the absolute worst, yes? What with the country falling apart, the dumpster-fire that is the White House, natural disasters, racial tensions...Just the worst!

But, with all that being said, I had a really good year on the personal and especially fannish front. Almost like I was subconsciously determined to do ALL THE THINGS in case these were, in fact, the end days. So, I'm just going to drop some pictures to remind myself that I really fuckin' lived this year, despite it all.

Haha, Doctor Who squee at a Harry Potter Conference! And that's pretty much the con (and my fandom life these days) in a nutshell. ♥


Awesome-Con! Which I worked a booth with a friend with and that is pretty much the perfect way for someone like me to go to a con of this size. So I can sit behind a table and just people watch. ♥


So many memories tied up into this trip. Years and years ago a friend roped me into going to my first HP conference because it was in New Orleans--which I'd been to many times and LOVED beyond reason and she'd never been to. We had an amazing time. She fell in love with the city just like I had. Fast forward like 10 years and she's moved there. The TARDIS up there? No big, just the entrance to her local bar. ♥ I spent a big chunk of my summer there.

But, the very best memory of last year? I finally got to meet one of my very bestest fandom friend redsnake05 who I have known for AGES and was pretty sure would never get to meet IRL. But then we did and it was amazing and it turns out, there is a Harry Potter bar in Toronto. Who knew?

Oh, man, this is so cool! I'm more active in other fandoms these days, but Harry Potter shaped my heart like nothing else. I love the pictures!

Haha, every time I think of the HP fandom, I think of a line from one of those Godfather movies "Every time I think I'm out, they PULL me back in!" I just can't quit it. ♥

I am sad that you and I have never really hung out together at a con - even though we were apparently together at Terminus (but didn't know one another), and MISTI has been kind of crazy. Maybe I can get to ReGen in March and you can too! ♥

Ahhhh, but some of my best Misti time before last's moments were hanging out with you! But, yes, we should have more con times! A lot more!

I will definitely (hopefully definitely!) be going to 2019 since it's so close to my house. Hopefully we can do more time together this time. (And maybe I'll be shilling my other books by then even if they're not HP-related. I do have to tell you about the one that's about to be sent in proposal-wise!)

It's crazy how this year has been so awful, but at the same time how many incredible things have happened. :)
