I'm trying to hold on to the happy/lovely place that White Collar has been for me. And also, trying to hold on to this place in Fandom, this Live Journal place to be somewhere I can share the lovely with others.
I've gotten so much from the community of fanfic, fanart and the pretty pictures. It's the recaps, reviews and the analysis (I think) that is getting me down. Not that I don't thing there is a time and place for that. There is.
But, what I'd like is for this one teeny, tiny place, in this slight space in time to be the place where we talk about the thing(s) we liked about the show. So, please share with me.
And no ending in "...but..." Or starting in "Even though..."
Just the good and the happy-making. Please.
It can be as simple as:
MOLE!
OR as in-depth as:
I loved how Neal realized too late to stop it, but before he had to show ignorance that the whole con was a set-up for blackmail.
To anything in between:
Mozzie finding his conspiracy-theory soulmate at the ONE moment in his life he had to pretend he wasn't one was a thing of beauty.
Okay, now--your turn!
Oh, also, for everyone else's sake. Please, no spoilers for upcoming episodes. THX

And more generally, the emotional journey Peter went through during the whole episode. It was beautiful, and heartbreaking.
Tim did such an amazing job ! Seriously, I was glued to his face !
Neal didn't look bad in that firefighter outfit either. :-)

Date: 2013-10-21 10:46 pm (UTC)RIGHT?!?! Scruffy and all MOLE! and prison has never looked so good! ♥
Tim certainly gave good face on that episode. Every emotion was just there, but also not BLATANT. I never once said, HOW DOES NO ONE SEE HE'S CONFLICTED?!?! Because it was so subtle and awe-inspiring.
*shrug* I guess Neal looked okay. ;)
HOW SO PRETTY?!?!?!

Date: 2013-10-21 10:55 am (UTC)I sooooo loved the acting of Tim and Matt, their faces spoke volumes. I don't know how they do that. This emotional ride was so well played.
You could see every minute how much Neal disliked what he did and when he realized what it meant to be the slave for Hagen until that evil guy says it's over, he knew that he did make a tremendous mistake.
And I loved dishevelled Neal at the end and the hurt written all over his face. I almost cried and wanted so much to hug him right then and there. <3

Date: 2013-10-21 10:49 pm (UTC)They just know each other so well, and have this unspoken language (that they share with us and we know as well) that they don't even need to talk anymore. IT'S ALL THERE ON THEIR FACES!
They were amazing!

Date: 2013-10-21 12:49 pm (UTC)One of the best things about White Collar has always been the relationship between Neal and Peter. It has a lot of elements, like all real relationships, the core of which is affection. They like each other, they always have, they always will. This episode showed their affection in every scene, in everything they did and said, especially the last scene. I could not have had the emotional reaction that I had if I didn't believe this 100%.
I am so glad you gave me a place to squee about this amazing premier. I hope you continue it for next week too and beyond. Thank you!

Date: 2013-10-21 11:04 pm (UTC)Peter and Neal are magical and their relationship has so many layers and I just sort of love (as much as I get frustrated) with the two steps forward-one step back of it. Just like real relationships with skewed dynamics. Such delicious skewed dynamics. ♥♥♥

Date: 2013-10-21 11:44 pm (UTC)I love Neal and Mozzie in that fake confession scene. Where Neal is all how does that sounds? and Mozzie is all ... sad and tragic? because Moz gets it, he knows exactly how Neal feels, there. And Neal knows that, and instead of being all stoic and locking his emotions away (which we know Neal can do) he tells Moz it's good to have him there.
*SNUGGLES THEM BOTH FOREVER*

Date: 2013-10-22 01:17 am (UTC)Mozzie and Neal doing shenanigans will always make me happy. Mozzie and Neal having ~moments~ makes my heart melt.

Was I the only person that wanted to hug Peter throughout the entire episode? Not just well he was in jail? Seriously. The bit with Clinton telling him about Diane's baby and the look on Peter's face when he realizes that if justice doesn't prevail, he'll miss all the important things in his family's lives. Massive hug there. How happy he was when he found out that he was free. Elizabeth and him in general, every episode, huge love.
Mozzie, willing to take almost a years work into hacking Neal's anklet and give it to the cause of helping Peter out, even though he's an FBI Agent. Mozzie having a fire bug. Mozzie saying they should douse Peter in..I can't remember what it was, because he didn't have any upper body strength to carry him out.
The look on Neal's face when Peter pulls out the new anklet, having had the option to finally go places undetected to have it ripped away from him again.
Mozzie driving the gold coins away in a broken baby carriage!
Mark Sheppard! That's just..enough to watch anything. He's like a television show baptism, it isn't worth watching it unless he has been in at least one episode (obviously that's an exaggeration since there a lot of great shows he hasn't been in, but we ignore these marvelous blasphemies), so not only did he baptize White Collar on it's very first episode, but he reaffirmed it as one the greats by being in it again.
I was actually going to post a whole bunch of gifs from the episode, I'm lazy and I wanted to reply before the next episode was up.
This episode was pretty exceptional and the range of emotions Peter displayed without having to say anything...just...agh!
But the only thing about this episode is that I just really don't think that...now don't get mad, but I really don't think watching it twice was enough for me.
There, I said it, my complaint.

Date: 2013-10-22 07:25 am (UTC)I agree about the most heartbreaking moment in prison, when he says he might miss so much. awwww his face there....
Then, there's his reaction to the recording. And his joy when he exists the court. And when he enters the office. And the whole scene with Bruce. And everything with Neal.. (from "your feet are on my desk!" to the last scene)
♥

Date: 2013-10-24 02:55 am (UTC)The Bruce scene was just another roller coaster for him because you could tell when he saw Bruce that he thought the worst and then everything!
It was definitely a great character development episode! :D

Date: 2013-10-24 08:25 am (UTC)This episode was a great reminder why I love Tim and Peter so much.
I keep watching some of these scenes again and again and again...
That scene with Bruce, he's wondering if he's gonna be sent to the Cave again... And loved his "I just got out of prison".

Which, lets be honest, is why you are the Caffrey to my Burke. ;)
I too wanted to hug Peter throughout this ENTIRE episode! He's just so on the cusp of a precipice here. And he's terrified he'll go over and he's horrified of who he'll take with him when/if he goes. ;_______;

Date: 2013-10-24 02:51 am (UTC)His mole is just...OMHG! He really needs to wear more clothes that show his mole!
That is a very valid point!
Tim DeKay did such a good job in this episode and he should definitely win one of those Television award things that every gets so hyped up about!

Date: 2013-10-22 12:08 pm (UTC)I loved it. Still don't get what you mean by Mole - guess it will come to me eventually, but not apparantly in a single lunch break.
I've just watched it for the second time. I think when Neal figured out there was more he just didn't care. He was going to level
the scales no matter the cost and the season ahead looks to be full of twists and turns. I can't wait to see who his new handler
is, and how Neal handles him/her. I think there will be more sad faces when Peter realises he has to watch from the sidelines
as his team works without him.
And Neal - sacrificed so much, not only to get Peter back, but to work with alongside him and now that's gone too. So sad,
his freedom and his friend in one go (although I'm pretty sure he switched em, because 'they look the same on the outside'.
I can't help thinking that with Neals time coming to an end - the finale may well see him with yet another offense to work off
at White Collar. I hope Neal sees that Peter is still his friend, that he's stepping away to help him because he knows he
indulges him too much which can lead to 'grey areas' - but still want Peter to step back in there!
Okay lunch over. so, yeah loved it, want to see it again and can't wait for more!

Date: 2013-10-22 09:16 pm (UTC)Yes! All of this! They just set up so much for what this season is going to be and how there is so much that they haven't dealt with that will be.
I CANNOT WAIT!!

Date: 2013-10-23 11:08 am (UTC)Also, wonder if the 'promotion' is to split up a winning team that might get too close to the truth if they look further in the dirty cops - considering there were more than one and they haven't mentioned any other big take downs. Also, wonder if there is someone behind Hagen. Just can't wait to see it all unfold.
Also, looking forward to Peter watching Neal run rings around his handler and wondering if he should step in or not. LOL
