This year's Fandom March Madness took a nasty turn against one of my favorite doctors and the actor who plays him. :(((

So, please tell me good things about Mr. Martin Freeman and/or why Dr. John Motherfuckin' Watson is a BAMF. Or, barring that, spam me with loveliness in the Sherlock/Watson/Martin Freeman variety...any Watson... Any Freeman.

Probably not. He got in the way of making it an all female final four by taking out a character from Downton Abbey and they got PISSED.

First they went after the character as boring and uninteresting (and of couurse white and male) then they went after Martin as a person. There was a monster smear campaign that freaked me out because they took supposed quotes from Martin that sounded sort of racists and at best LGBT insensitive and at worst, homophobic and that's when shit got real and I went running from the whole thing. I don't know in what context, or how long ago they were made, but I was just heartbroken that I could neither defend or explain (or even be revolted by) because it was then that I realized tha I don't really know him at all.

Which also pissed me off because it wasn't supposed to be about whether or not the actor playing him is a tool (which I can't believe) but about how amazing Dr Watson is and how well he is protrayed by said tool.
