I’m trying. Really I am.
I want to be here more than I am.
I want to be geeky and share what brings me joy with everyone here more than I do.
I want to FUCKING write for the LOVE OF GOD, more than I do anymore.
But mostly,
I want to make friends with like-minds.
What you can expect from this journal:
Shenanigans and Hijinx.
Book Reviews (mostly queer lit)
Broken Promises to be here regularly.
Half-finished memes.
Seriously, I am the WORST!
Things I post aboutWhen I do Post:
Me being ridiculous about what I'm reading
Fandom Shenanigans
Writing Shenanigans
Fandoms:
The most reading and writing I have done historically is for:
Harry Potter--my forever fandom, though that has waned since the whole JKR being a giant piece of shit thing.
I sadly only get inspired to write once a year for
yuletide these days, or when I have big feelings about things like Heartstopper and The Green Creek series.
Hmmm… What else? My fic can be mostly found Here on AO3
Pronouns: She/her but I’m also considering “Whatever” as a pronoun too.
Which brings me to the Friending policy:
Feel free to friend me all you want. I’ll more than likely friend you back--especially if you throw a comment below introducing yourself. If you just want to read my public fandom related posts, that’s cool too, just let me know so that I don’t accidentally friend you and expose you to my brand of silly ridiculousness. Cool?

Yuletide bestie?
Date: 2022-01-05 04:16 pm (UTC)I wrote for you in Yuletide 2021 and, as per your letter, you left a comment in which you included a desire to be friends! I do not have many online friends, barely use my DW and have not written all that much lately (YT was my first fannish activity in 18 months!!) due to illness and the face that when I knit I don't really get the creative bug in writing, except of course, for when I read your letter. I am Australian and watched the first season of Harrow as it aired and got the whole mystery in week by week instalments and rewatched it just to write for you, although I was still mourning Forever at the time and may be trying to make the mother of all crossovers with Harrow as an undercover witness protection version of Henry...
I also just finished White Collar and adore Mozzie and Peter and Neal although I almost have Peter/Neal/Elizabeth as my OT3 and think of Mozzie as an ace with a smush on Neal and they're platonic life partners who probably tried it once and realised they fit better as partners in crime and don't really need more from each other than trust. My fandom home for many years was LotR but as the resident kinky weird person never really had anyone who shared the most snarkiest of thoughts.
I currently watch the FBIs, Chicago Fire and Med (I just glommed onto Severide early on and tolerate everyone else since Sophia Bush left, I gave up on PD and also Blue Bloods because the plots were so plaint by the numbers transparent and I was bored), SEAL Team, SWAT and whatever looks good on STAR and Acorn TV, although I have a not so secret love for Hudson and Rex even though I am not a dog person IRL (cat person? allergies aside, yes my heart). My most recent binge was My Life Is Murder with Lucy Lawless. I love gaming and I'm currently in Genshin Impact hell, used to play Kingdom Hearts 1+2 at least once a year until 3 was so boring I still haven't completed it. I have an unreasonable affinity for visual novels where if they're not All The Gay I can at least pretend they are and am currently in love with Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk, I will always have a soft spot for Final Fantasy and if Gladio wasn't such a total ass to Noctis I'd like in FFXV forever (except I can't bring myself to play it again with all the post-release changes, a bit like how I can't watch the theatrical releases of LotR...). I also have more than passing interests in Harry Potter (firmly believe in 'the author is dead' and 'Word of God is not canon'), Twilight (although I still haven't finished Midnight Sun), Tsukiuta, Trails/Kiseki and other Falcom games, and basically if it's a procedural with a heart of snark, has pretty anime people I can pretend are in hot kinky love, or someone I can impress upon and have as my favourite regardless of medium (so I am still very loyal to Rocky from Power Rangers and still consider myself a RENThead even though it's basically a monument to white masculine superiority), I'll be able to write for it even if I tend to avoid communal fandom.
So I have babbled a bit, and if you think there's enough overlap that we could pull off penpals, feel free to friend/message me and babble back!
Re: Yuletide bestie?
Date: 2022-01-06 02:37 am (UTC)I KNEW you were Australian from your story! It was just so very perfect with colloquialisms and attention to geographical detail! ♥ ♥
YES! YES! Penpals for sure!
Harrow! I can't even explain how I found it and why it hit so hard, but I have to think it was a little due to how much I loved and missed Forever--why did that not have a million seasons?!?! I had not heard of Harrow, but there was another show with him that I was too terrified to watch--I think it's called Liar, or The Liar? But, I just didn't want to see him being a bad guy and I thought maybe he was? So I avoided it. When I saw there was another show with him, I was excited. When I saw it was a crime procedural I was doubly so (I'm a sucker for those--but not usually in a fandom-y way, just in a put it on and do other things-noise in the background way). I have such good memories--which in 2021 were sometimes hard to come by--of finally learning how to pronounce his name (according to YouTube) and shouting it out while watching because it's just such a great name to shout out. ;)
And oh man, White Collar! I too am very much Peter/Neal/El (I think this is the only fandom I've ever heard of that almost EVERYONE in it ship those three the most. ♥ But Mozzie is my heart! Especially now since losing Willie Garson *sobs* I just want all the Mozzie with all his quirks and the ways that every character changes him and makes him shine. Oh, that reminds me, you should sign up for
And haha, The Author is Dead is a very good way to be able to fandom in spaces that the actual creator is toxic. I will remember that one. I'm sad to say as far as Twilight, Breaking Dawn sort of broke me of that one. It was a fun ride though. But yeah... full disclosure. Video games and anime I love that other people love them and I love watching my nerdy friends nerd out on things that don't do it for me, so we're cool there too, even if I'm not right there with ya. ;)
Re: Yuletide bestie?
Date: 2022-01-18 11:00 am (UTC)I know Liar! I actually watched it and it was... well.... yes, do not watch it! It's one of those shows where you don't know what's going on until right at the end and it's really uncomfortable to watch because it's so real but you can't quite trust it. Have you seen Hornblower? Ioan is very young in it and I keep meaning to find it and watch it for him - it must be 20 years old by now! I didn't watch it when it was on because at the time I wasn't really into historical fiction plus ships, but then of course, Pirates of the Caribbean at least made them tolerable... The other one I really loved Ioan in was yet another single-season show that deserved at least another outing called 'Ringer' with Sarah Michelle Gellar. Ioan's character isn't perfect, but everyone in it is messy and has their good and bad aspects and it's like a primetime soap opera in 22 episodes! (Also he's pretty. But that's a given, yes?)
I have done chocolate box before, but not this year I think; is it still going, or are they looking for last minute pinch hitters? I must have a look - I normally only pinch hit because give me a long deadline and I just get bored and never finish, but pinch hitting I can pick ones that start speaking to me and then write them straight away, or close to, and it's like condensing the whole fandom excitement into a very small happy place.
For a minute.
Mozzie is such a darling little chameleon, isn't he? And I loved how Neal just trusted him to do his thing even when it was not quite as advertised and the little glimpses of nearly-happiness were so devastating every time they got pulled back to earth! (I must admit I knit while watching it so I haven't fully memorised everything enough to say it.) I saw Willie in something else just before he passed *sniffle* but can I remember what it is? No, no I cannot.
I hope you are well, at least better than average! (And I will remember my password and come visit properly at some point soon!)
