Challenge #8
Talk about a current fannish project (fic, art, vid, crochet, funko pop village) (that you are creating or enjoying)
But, I've also started two long stories (a Veronica Mars/White Collar fusion story that even though I'm not SUPER into either of those fandoms currently, I love the idea of mesh them together and I like what I've written so far and a Red, White and Royal Blue A/U) that I tinker with from time to time, but I've never written long stories before and so I'm not feeling the urgency of it, ya know? With short things, it all comes to me and I am in a mad rush to get it down, and then to share it. But, it's not the same with longer things. I don't have the time or the attention span to sit down and write pages and pages of words that needs pages and pages more and then pages and pages more than that to come to a stopping point before the pages and pages more the next day. And, though I am loathe to say this--I miss having an audience. I am really starting to see why people post WIPs that they haven't finished yet. It gives it a sense of urgency, a sense of people caring and invested and that, in turn, gives the writer a sense of purpose and also a sense of responsibility.
So, anyone want to give me some advice on how to proceed? Should I just post what I have and hope the fanfare--or lack of it maybe--be my impetus to continue--or not? Should I join writerly communities and find Alphas or Cheerleaders or whatever the people who read, cheer and urge you on before going public are called these days? If so, how do people find those things anymore? Or do I just keep slowly tinkering on one or the other until the urge goes away--or I finish, hard as that is to believe possible? IDK IDK.
Writing man, why so hard?!?!
