I watched ep 2 again and I had some more thoughts. Over the season's Neal's relationship with Peter has always been viewed (i guess) against the backdrop of the other events/people - Neal/Kate & Peter, Neal/Treasure & Peter etc. I was thinking that this season could be, in addition to Neal defining himself, it could be about defining his relationship with Peter (separate from all the other stuff that goes on). How do they maintain their friendship (will it change for good or bad) if they are not working together? Can it survive if Neal keeps some of his conman ways?
I have also been thinking alot about Neal's new handler and why he is in NY. I have a feeling it is not a coincidence that he arrives just as Curtis Hagen is up for an appeal. I feel like he is connect to all of this in some way.
This show has me overflowing with thinky thoughts. ; ) : )
