I would not start with the new episodes. I was disappointed with them. However, I can find or make you a list of episodes to sample, just to get a feel for the series. Just let me know if you're interested.

Most people who love Fringe (I am one--I own all five seasons, I ran a rewatch comm, I ran a gift exchange. lol.) loved The X-Files first. The creators of Fringe love The X-Files. And it is canon that they exist in the same universe, too. Fringe isn't perfect but it's a much better written show than The X-Files. The X-Files is a much messier canon, but those flaws led to the creation of so much wonderful fix-it fic.

Plus, Dana Scully. And Fox Mulder.

I can go on and on and on...

I haven't yet. I don't subscribe to Netflix. (Because I'm cheap.) I'm waiting impatiently for it to come out on DVD so I can request that my library purchase it...so maybe this time, next year. Sooner if I'm lucky.

When you say a handful, does that mean three or four? Six? More than six?

It's a funny question for me because I got hooked on the show by reading fanfic.

I watched the first couple (?) seasons of Fringe (until there was a viewing conflict, or something). How did they work in canon same 'verse as X-Files?!! I never watched the X-Files, but I'm very curious about that.

Same wrt not knowing what to look for. Though if it was later seasons, I wouldn't have seen it.

The Fringe canon specifically references the X-Files in this scene.

That old "X" Designation.

A few of us have taken that and run with it, though not as many as I might have hoped. I've written three Fringe/XF crossovers and have plans for a fourth.

I even have a set of Fringe/XF icons.

If I saw that (I believe it's from a season after I stopped watching) it probably would've gone right over my head!

It was from the first episode of the second season, "A New Day in the Old Town." I'm not surprised by that. It was definitely an easter egg meant for X-Philes. There are many others but that was the most blatant.

Hi. I haven't forgotten about this but two weeks ago my dad was in an auto accident and was hospitalized (and still is).
