Yeah, sometimes Regency works better for me on the screen then in written form--which is good for me, since moving in with my sister who is OBSESSED with shows of that era (as well as all things Austen in general).
I have a complicated feeling about most of the Brontes and their work, so I wouldn't rely on my opinion of their readability, but any Austen is a good Austen, and their adaptations are always pretty sound (even Clueless was a delightful take on Emma ♥). Though, we are watching a show now that is based on her unfinished book, Sanditon, and it is VERY different and I'm not sure about it yet.
All this to say, yes to Regency in any form that suits you. ♥ ♥
