DAY 9:

Send feedback to two fannish people — they can be anyone you want: just let someone know you appreciate their work.

I did this yesterday when reveals went up at both [ profile] hoggywartyxmas and [ profile] daily_deviant's Kinky Kristmas, but since I'm also honored enough to have all those mods here as friends, who might read this while scrolling on their much deserved break from responsibility, I want to get all sappy and whatnot. Ready?

Firstly, [ profile] hoggywartyxmas is perfection in that way that so many HP gift exchanges back in the day were. There might still be gift exchanges like this, but for me, Hoggywarty is it. From the moment it announces itself--in the most charming, unique way--until the final reveals, it's just one glorious thing after another and the brainchild, the instigator, the inspiration for all of it comes from one person, [ profile] therealsnape. They are ~magical~.

If you're an artist/author who likes to write about the staff at Hogwarts, and their friends, if you like fests where the creation process is respected and writing what excites you above all is encouraged, if you like fests where everyone participates with not only incredible quality but with reading, commenting and reccing like CRAZY (seriously, I got more comments on this fest than in ALL MY OTHER FEST FICS THIS YEAR ADDED UP, NO LIE) than Hoggy is the fest for you. ♥♥

And if you like that and some dirty, filthy p0rn, than Kinky Kristmas is the fest for you! The [ profile] daily_deviant is a community of writers and artists who have been invited to a very sex-positive, kink-encouraged community to write and art for their watchers. And every Christmas, they ask those creators what they want most for Christmas for themselves, and then they invite everyone to participate, members and readers alike. In fact, I think (at least it's how it worked for me) that the holiday fest is the way that many watchers become members. So, everyone brings their A game.

We also bring our A games because the mods [ profile] r_grayjoy and [ profile] ragdoll do SOOOOOOO much for the community and make sure everyone gets a little something-something. [ profile] ragdoll is just so much love and is a constant fandom presence in my life (both in HP and a big number of other fandoms), and [ profile] r_grayjoy is my Punxsutawney Phil of Phandom: she peeks her head out of her comfy home, sees her shadow and declares six more weeks of awesome p0rns before she disappears again. ♥ ♥

I could go on and on about these guys, and so many other people who give so much to fandom, there's just SO MANY, and that's a good thing. All ya'll are amazing! Seriously. Don't ever change.

Lovely tributes, and I agree wholeheartedly. This year, in addition to being excellent from a literary/artistic standpoint, these two fests helped keep me sane in an insane and terrifying world.

Right? First the creation process gave me a purpose and distraction, then the reading of other's contributions gave me a nice distraction of spoils. I'm still soooo far behind. OMG! Between work and this Snowflake thing... I'm exhausted. But, I still need a distraction. ;)
